PhD Juan Manuel Alcocer González delivers Keynote Speech as part of CIDICS’ Ninth Anniversary
PhD Juan Manuel Alcocer González, Secretary of Scientific Research and Technological Development of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, hosted last Tuesday October 9 the Keynote Speech titled “Sistema UANL para la Investigación, Innovación y Desarrollo Tecnológico” (UANL’s System for Research, Innovation, and Technological Development); on said speech, he emphasized the infrastructure devoted to technological research and development within the University. It comprises 41 Research and Development Centers, 26 academic buildings of University level, and 29 academic buildings of upper-intermediate level; and additionally, 802 researchers on the National System of Researchers, recognized incubators, national and international strategic allies, as well as programs that involve comprehensive and multidisciplinary research, and entrepreneurship.
He mentioned the actions the University has taken to transform and bolster research are: increasing the production of high quality and high impact research, and to increase the mobility of knowledge on society to provide welfare. The guiding axis of the UANL Rector, Teacher Rogelio Garza Rivera, has comprised of bolstering high impact innovation and entrepreneurship as means to impact well-being on society.
The Autonomous University of Nuevo León has, on the last three years, obtained recognition before the INADEM (National Institute of Entrepreneurship). On 2017, the University ranked 4th place on the Ranking SIR to a national level, position 37 on Latin America level, and 590 at an international level, rising in position from 2015 to 2017. The University has begun various programs to bolster scientific production in young people and to recognize researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs; an example of that is the CREALTII.
The CREALTII (Creation of High Impact Companies for Researchers) is a program established with the objective to bolster knowledge on development right now through researchers, for them to develop and achieve projects with the end result of creating products that can be introduced to the world market with an increasing demand to produce economic development and welfare.
