A State consultation is carried out to create an action/strategy plan on promoting Health.

On September 25, a State consultation was performed on the Center for Research and Development on Health Sciences, focused on creating an action and strategy plan to promote Health under the objectives of Sustainable Development. The Secretary of Health of the State of Nuevo León participated in cooperation with more than 50 representatives of the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization.

Municipal Directors of Public Health (Apodaca, Santa Catarina, Juárez, San Pedro Garza García, Santiago, Monterey, Linares, García, Montemorelos, Pesquería); MD Dora Elia Cortés Hernández, CIDICS Coordinator; Executives and educators of different Institutions of Nuevo León gathered to discuss different focuses. For this, four teams were divided, each one with a different color and a space to give proposals related to a topic. Said proposals will be a part of a national plan that will represent Mexico in the future, just as it will be carried out by every country in America.

Each group discussed the importance of strategies to solve social problems. In group number one, representatives spoke about the topic “Entornos y accion social” (Environment and social action), where it was discussed on how to provide sexual education to teenagers, as well as educate on child obesity to families. Group number two discussed the topic “Intersectorial, determinantes de la salud” (Cross-sectional, determinants of health); group three discussed the topic “Participacion social y comunitaria” (Social and community involvement) where it was analyzed a way to incorporate civil society with the government. And at last, group four “Sistemas y servicios de salud” (Health systems and services) discussed various projects of cooperation to promote progressive advance towards universal health access. Each topic sought different ways to improve State health institutions and optimize existing health systems and services, as well as to support research on Health sciences.

Representatives concluded that we must build and keep a strong health system, stressing financing and governmental aspects on health; politics, strategies and health planning, integral services focused on the needs of people, the improvement of access and rational use of medication, medical products and sanitary technologies that are safe, effective, and of good quality. And also on the availability of human resources for health, culturally appropriate, well regulated and distributed.
